Traveling with children can be a challenging experience, especially when it comes to flying. As a pilot and a mother of three young boys, I understand the importance of having the right gadgets to make the journey smoother for both parents and kids. Today, I want to share with you some must-have travel gadgets for flying with children that can help make your next trip more enjoyable.

  1. Portable Entertainment Devices: Keeping children entertained during a flight is key to avoiding meltdowns. Portable entertainment devices such as tablets or handheld gaming consoles loaded with their favourite movies, games, and books can be a lifesaver. Make sure to bring headphones to avoid disturbing other passengers.

  2. Child-Friendly Headphones: Investing in child-friendly headphones is essential, especially if your little ones are using in-flight entertainment systems. These headphones are designed to protect young ears and provide a comfortable fit for smaller heads.

  3. Travel Neck Pillow: Help your children get some rest during the flight with a travel neck pillow. Look for a pillow that is specifically designed for kids to ensure proper support and comfort.

  4. Snack Containers: Pack a variety of snacks in spill-proof containers to keep hunger at bay during the flight. Opt for nutritious, hydrating snacks to keep energy levels up without causing sugar crashes. Check out my Toddler Safe Snacking Checklist in the Free Downloads section.

  5. Travel Activity Kits: Keep children engaged with travel activity kits that include coloring books, stickers, puzzles, and small toys. These kits can provide hours of entertainment and help pass the time during long flights.

  6. Stroller: If you have a young child, a lightweight and compact travel stroller can be a game-changer. It allows you to navigate through the airport easily and provides a comfortable place for your child to rest if needed. Remember, preparation is key when flying with children. Be sure to collapse it when gate checking it!
